We get this question a lot. Not only from homeowners, but from businesses as well. The answer? Well, there are several answers and I’ve listed some of them below. 1) How often should I have my windows cleaned? - You should have your windows cleaned more than once a year. The questions you need to answer are below: ◊ How many people live in your home? ◊ Do you have a lot of trees on your property? ◊ Do you live near water? ◊ Does anyone in your family have allergies? The exterior of your windows go through a lot. The different seasons bring different situations, from pollen to rain and salt water to bugs. If you have sprinklers that hit your windows, eventually a calcium build-up will be on your windows and once it’s been there for a while, it has to be treated and scraped off, and there is no guarantee that it will come off based on how long it’s been there. If you live near salt water, the wind blows the salt onto the glass and once the sun bakes it, the salt can etch your glass. The interior of your windows also goes through a lot. Pets may lick or rub their noses on windows and doors. Children may put sticky fingers on the glass, and even cooking can affect your interior windows. When we clean windows on the exterior, we expect the solution being squeegee’s off to be dirty. We also see, on many occasions, the solution on interior windows to be black or gray. This is because the windows have not been cleaned in a while and after time, dirt, dust, as well as germs stick to the glass. You don’t always necessarily see this, your glass might appear dull, but you may assume it’s on the exterior of the window. Not so. On many occasions, we have cleaned exterior windows and the interior windows are dirtier than the exterior. Think about it! Ask yourself the questions I’ve presented to determine how often your windows need to be cleaned.
